When it starts it will go into the chkdsk routine. You will then get a message saying it cannot run because the disc is in use, do you want it to run at next boot ? Type a 'Y' or 'Yes' - whichever it asks for and re-boot the computer. Just type 'chkdsk /r' - without the quotes, but with a space between the k and the / - and press enter. You will get a DOS type screen with some text on it. The only thing I can suggest is you run the chkdsk /r command.Ĭlick 'Start - All programs - Accessories' then RIGHT click on 'Command prompt' and select 'Run as Administrator'. Although as long as your computer is booting normally this isn't too much of a problem.
I don't think I have come across the problem as you describe it, Safe mode can sometimes be difficult to get to, but once I've got there I have always managed to navigate using the up and down arrow keys.
The BIOS screen seldom displays for very long !
